Adding a Unit of Study

Who is eligible?

  • You must already be enrolled in a course at the University.
  • You can only add a UoS up to 11.59 p.m. on the Friday of the second week of the session.
  • Under certain circumstances a student may be permitted to add a UoS after the Friday. Please contact your faculty.

How to add a Unit of Study

  • Click "Add Unit of Study". Three windows appear above the button.
  • Type in the correct alpha and numeric UoS codes (from your faculty handbook) and the correct semester.
  • Click "Save Changes".
  • You will receive a message saying "Update of your degree has been performed successfully".
  • The Unit of Study status now reads CURENR (i.e. Current enrolment)

Common problems you may encounter

  • Major timetable clash: an error message appears saying "Major timetable clash. Please select another UoS". It will be impossible to save the information you have entered until you have resolved this problem.
  • Minor timetable clash: minor clashes are not displayed on Web Enrolment Variation. It is your responsibility to check this information available at http://www.timetable.usyd.edu.au/
  • Duplicate Units of Study: an error message appears saying "Unit of Study (xxx ooo) semester (o) is a duplicate and cannot be added." This message will appear when you are already currently enrolled in the Unit of Study you are attempting to add.
